Central & Local Government
With on-going cuts in central government funding and a dramatic increases in social care costs, the pressure for cost reductions and efficiencies has never been greater in the public sector. Emex have been working with central and local government for the last two decades and have developed a unique skill-set in the deployment of effective EHSS management systems. We combine best practise from the private sector with the specific requirements demanded by government bodies to ensure a seamless integration into the organisation.
Office of Public Works
Established in 1831, the Office for Public Works (OPW) manages and maintains the State's property portfolio, and provides a full design and project management service for public sector building projects, a conservation management and advisory service, and independent advice to the Government. It has the largest architectural practice in the country and is responsible for the restoration and preservation of many prestigious state buildings. The OPW has implemented Emex Accidents & Incidents, Emex Training and Emex Risks, achieving the central capture of key health and safety information. Emex Risks has been developed so that it can cater for specialised Design Risk Assessments, enabling the organisation share and build best practise among its architects for use on new-build and refurbishment projects.
Coast Guard
The Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) is the nation-wide marine emergency organisation and is a division of the Department of Transport. It has delegated responsibility for marine emergency management in the Ireland Search and Rescue (SAR) Region and the Irish Pollution Response Zone and employs over 75 full-time staff and over 850 volunteer staff in 60 locations around the country. In August 2007 Emex won the tender to provide the AARAS (Automated Audit and Risk Assessment System) for the IRCG. Migrating existing safety-check Word documents and Excel spreadsheets into an easily accessible database has helped the IRCG to centralise key information. AARAS will help the organisation continue to co-ordinate the activities of its 900 employees and volunteers, achieving transparent compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
